On June 12, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC)s Dalian-Indonesia/Malaysia route officially commenced operations at Dalian Port. This is another regional Asian route launched by MSC following the Southeast Asia route PERTIWI in 2022. The route will deploy six container ships of 2,500TEU-3,500TEU capacity, calling at major ports in RCEP member countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia, and providing direct shipping services from Dalian Port to Semarang, Indonesias third-largest port.
The Dalian-Indonesia/Malaysia route covers a wide area, connecting North China, South Korea, and Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. The launch of this new route can effectively alleviate cargo weight restrictions for clients in Northeast Chinas hinterland and improve the circulation efficiency of goods like fruits, rubber, chemicals, and minerals between the hinterland and Southeast Asia.
This move not only strengthens the maritime trade linkage of the Dalian port towards the Southeast Asian region, but also injects new momentum into the economic and trade exchanges between regions. This is another important layout of the Mediterranean Shipping Company for Asian regional routes, and also an important support for the Dalian port. It is of great significance for promoting the development of the Dalian port and enhancing its international influence.
